Historien om Tinn-Per

Tinn-Per is a pewter foundry established by Per Fostveit and Per Tryving in Oslo in 1963. Their initial purpose was to create pewter buttons and clasps. Tryving left Tinn-Per around 1966.

The company subsequently developed new product lines in gift items and souvenirs cast in pewter. In 1972, Tinn-Per moved into its own production facility in Asker. The company was chosen to produce official souvenirs for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. In 2006, the company was acquired by Torkel Breien and Real Ringerike, relocating to Helgelandsmoen Business Park in Hønefoss.

In 2008, Tinn-Per took over production of select HavstadTinn products, while Torkel Breien stepped away from the company that same year. In 2017, Tinn-Per purchased and assumed the pewter production from Den Norske Knappefabrikk (DNK).

Tinn-Per creates products inspired by Norwegian nature, culture, and history. Our inspiration comes from Norway's incredibly rich cultural heritage with long-standing craft traditions. In Norwegian cultural history, pewter items have been produced for nearly 3,000 years.

From ancient pewter beads, through the Viking era's carved animal heads, to today's decorative and functional objects, Tinn-Per has carried these ancient craft traditions forward, combining them with modern technology. The pewter used in our casting is always of the highest quality: 93% tin and 7% antimony.
